1 Overview
The YE5-80~355 (IP54~IP55) series of small-sized, low-voltage, three-phase asynchronous motors are high-efficiency, energy-saving motors designed and developed by our company. They feature innovative design, attractive appearance, low noise, high torque, excellent starting performance, compact structure, and ease of use and maintenance. Their efficiency fully meets the Grade 1 standard specified in GB 18613-2012 ("Minimum Allowable Values of Energy Efficiency and Energy Efficiency Grades for Small and Medium-sized Three-Phase Asynchronous Motors") and has passed the energy-saving product certification by the China Quality Certification Center (CQC).
The power ratings, electrical performance, mounting dimensions, and tolerances of this motor series comply with the national standard GB 755 ("Rotating Electrical Machines"), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard IEC 34-1 ("Rotating Electrical Machines – Part 1: Rating and Performance"), and the machinery industry standard GB/T 4772.1.
The enclosure protection class of this motor series complies with GB 4942.1 and IEC 34-5 ("Degrees of Protection Provided by the Integral Design of Rotating Electrical Machines"). The cooling method is IC411, in accordance with GB/T 1993 and IEC 34-6 ("Methods of Cooling for Rotating Electrical Machines").
The structural and mounting arrangements for this series include IMB3 (horizontal with feet, no flange on end shield), IMB5 (horizontal frame without feet, with flange on end shield), IMB35 (horizontal frame with feet, with flange on end shield), and IMV1 (vertical frame without feet, with flange on end shield), all complying with GB/T 997 and IEC 34-7 ("Classification of Types of Construction and Mounting Arrangements of Rotating Electrical Machines").
This motor series utilizes Class F insulation, while the temperature rise for the entire series is evaluated against Class B standards, thereby significantly enhancing safety and reliability.
2 Scope of use
This series of motors can be used to drive various general machinery such as compressors, ventilators, water pumps, cutting machine tools, transportation machinery and other mechanical equipment. They are used as prime movers in various industrial and mining enterprises such as mining, machinery, petrochemical industries, and power plants. Motors used to drive large inertia blowers, coal mills, rolling mills, winches, crushers, belt conveyors and other machinery. Relevant technical information should be provided when ordering, and a technical agreement should be signed as a basis for the special design of the motor to ensure reliable operation of the motor.
Basic conditions for normal operation of the motor:

c. The average maximum relative humidity of the wettest month is 90% and the average minimum temperature of the month is not higher than 25℃;

3 Model Designation
The motor model designation is composed of two parts arranged in sequence—the product code and the specification code—in accordance with GB4831. The product code is designated as follows:
YE5 — Squirrel-cage rotor three-phase asynchronous motor, IE4 efficiency class, National Standard Energy Efficiency Grade 1
The product specification code consists of the shaft height, the core length sequence number, and the number of poles.

4 Structural Description
The motor frame and end shields are constructed from high-strength cast iron, and the stator utilizes an external press-fit structure. The stator windings employ round copper wire with Class F insulation materials; a special lashing process ensures the winding ends are securely and reliably fixed. The entire stator undergoes Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) with solvent-based varnish, resulting in excellent, reliable insulation performance as well as superior moisture and impact resistance.
Motors in this series feature reliable squirrel-cage rotors made of cast aluminum or cast copper. Rolling bearings are used, and the standard enclosure protection rating is IP55; if a higher motor protection rating is specified, the bearing protection rating is upgraded accordingly.
Motors in the H180–355 frame sizes are equipped with devices for regreasing and grease discharge during operation, allowing maintenance to be performed without stopping the motor.
The main terminal box features a sealed design with a protection rating matching that of the motor. It is typically mounted on top of the motor frame but can be positioned on the side to suit specific application requirements. A dedicated grounding terminal is provided inside the terminal box.
5 Starting of Squirrel-Cage Induction Motors (YE5 Series)
Advanced computational techniques are employed to analyze the starting temperature rise and stress of the squirrel-cage rotors, thereby preventing premature motor failure caused by excessive starting loads. Users are advised to verify the following: (1) the moment of inertia of the driven equipment's rotating parts (referred to the motor speed) must not exceed the value specified for "Load J" in the technical data table; (2) the power supply system must ensure that the motor terminal voltage during startup remains at or above 85% of the rated voltage; and (3) the load torque characteristics of the driven machinery must correspond to those of water pumps or fans.
Under the conditions above, the motor is permitted to undergo two consecutive starts from a cold state (with the motor coasting to a natural stop between starts) or one start from a hot state. Any subsequent start exceeding these limits must only be attempted after the motor has been stopped for at least one hour.
If the moment of inertia of the driven machinery's rotating parts exceeds the "Load J" value specified in the technical data table, or if frequent starting or heavy-load starting is required, please contact our company beforehand to discuss a special design that ensures reliable motor startup.
