1 Overview
The YL series of large vertical high-voltage three-phase asynchronous motors is produced by our company, which boasts over 30 years of manufacturing history. Recent advancements—including improved insulation materials, the use of low-loss silicon steel sheets, enhanced manufacturing processes, and optimized designs—have made it possible to reduce various motor losses and increase capacity. Drawing on over 60 years of experience in designing and manufacturing high-voltage three-phase asynchronous motors, we have re-optimized the design of this series to meet the latest national and industry requirements. Experimental results demonstrate that the new series matches or approaches world-class standards in terms of both technical and economic performance. These motors are currently in mass production and are widely exported to over 20 countries and regions—including Europe, the Americas, Africa, Hong Kong, and Macau—as well as across China, earning high praise from users.
This series features premium materials and precision manufacturing, offering advantages such as high efficiency and energy savings, low noise, minimal vibration, reliable operation, and ease of installation and maintenance.
The power ratings, electrical performance, mounting dimensions, and tolerances of this series comply with the national standard GB 755 (*Rotating Electrical Machines – Rating and Performance*) and the International Electrotechnical Commission standard IEC 34-1 (*Rotating Electrical Machines – Rating and Performance*).
The enclosure protection class for this series is IP23, in accordance with GB 4942.1 and IEC 34-5 (*Degrees of Protection Provided by the Enclosure of Rotating Electrical Machines*); other protection classes can be supplied upon request.
The cooling method for this series is IC01, in accordance with GB/T 1993 and IEC 34-6 (*Methods of Cooling for Rotating Electrical Machines*); other cooling methods can be supplied upon request.
The structural and mounting arrangement for this series is IMV1, complying with the specifications of GB 997 and IEC 34-7 (*Classification of Types of Construction and Mounting Arrangements of Rotating Electrical Machines*).
2 Scope of Application
This series of electric motors is designed to drive vertical water pumps and other mechanical equipment, serving as prime movers in various industrial and mining enterprises such as mines, machinery plants, petrochemical facilities, and power plants.
Basic conditions for normal motor operation:
(1) Altitude not exceeding 1,000 m;
(2) Maximum ambient air temperature not exceeding 40°C; minimum ambient air temperature of -15°C for motors with rolling bearings, and 5°C for motors with sliding bearings;
(3) Monthly average maximum relative humidity of 90% during the most humid month, provided the monthly average minimum temperature does not exceed 25°C;
(4) Power supply frequency of 50 Hz ± 1%;
(5) Operating voltage fluctuation within ± 5% of the rated voltage;
(6) Motor duty type: continuous duty (S1).
3 Model Designation
In accordance with GB4831, the motor model designation consists of two parts arranged sequentially: the product code and the specification code. The product code indicates the motor series, with the following meaning:
YL — Vertical squirrel-cage induction motor;
The specification code indicates the motor's power rating, number of poles, and the outer diameter of the stator laminations.

4 Structural description
The motor adopts a circular structure, and the base and end cover are made of welded steel plates, with good rigidity and light weight. After removing the protective cover, you can observe and touch the inside of the motor, which facilitates the installation and maintenance of the motor. The stator adopts an external press-fit structure. The stator windings are made of F-class insulation materials and anti-halation materials. The winding ends are fixed using a special binding process, which is strong and reliable. The entire stator is treated with vacuum pressure impregnation F-class solvent-free paint (VPI). As a result, the motor has excellent and reliable insulation performance, moisture resistance and impact resistance.
The squirrel cage rotor of this series of motors can be either cast aluminum rotor or copper bar rotor, which ensures reliable operation.
Depending on whether the motor bears axial thrust or the magnitude of the axial thrust, the upper bearing structure of the motor has two types: rolling bearing and sliding bearing, and the lower bearing structure is a rolling bearing. Motors with rolling bearing structures are equipped with non-stop refueling and oil draining devices.
The main outlet box is a sealed structure with a protection level of IP54. The cable entry hole of the outlet box can be switched up, down, left, and right. There is a separate ground terminal inside the box.

6 things to note
(1) Check the moment of inertia of the driven mechanical equipment;
